Lockdown

£300.00

Acrylic paint, spray paint and stencils on canvas.

A stand out expressive and emotional piece. I often feel like this acrylic painting is like a direct window into my mind during a time that was both simultaneously very distressing but yet also numbing.

The painting titled Lockdown is inspired by mental health concerns during the period of covid lockdown and the feeling of detachment. It captures a poignant moment of solitude and numbness. This figure is no longer herself. The woman is lying down surrounded by a subdued palette of muted blues and greys. The painting is highly emotive yet controlled, conveying a sense of stillness amidst an underlying tension. The subject appears introspective, conveying the emotional weight and isolation associated with lockdown periods. The use of shadows and light subtly enhances the atmosphere, emphasising the quiet confinement of the scene.

I created this artwork whilst in a contemplative mood and period of recovery, I hope to invite reflection on themes of solitude, resilience, and human endurance during challenging times.
